Benefits of Mumbai Nagpur Expressway
There are multiple benefits that the expressway will offer. Let us have a look at those benefits:
- Enhance EXIM trade: The expressway connects to Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. Also, certain districts have connectivity to these corridors as also the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, which will result in more EXIM trade.
- Promote tourism: The Samruddhi Mahamarg will also promote tourism to Shirdi, Verul, Lonar, Ajanta, etc.
- New towns to be developed: Krushi Samruddhi Nagar- is a New Town Development Authority (NDTA) which will develop new towns along the expressway. The objective to develop such towns will be to enrich the lives of the farmers residing there. These towns will boost industrial production, commercial facilities and trade.
- Boost economic growth: New towns and agro-based industries are being set up in various cities, improving many people's agricultural income. At the same time, there will be more employment opportunities for non-agriculturalists as well.
- Less travel time: The travel time between Mumbai and Nagpur will be reduced to 8 hours, currently it takes 16 hours. Roads are being built of international quality and offer a smooth and safe drive.
- Promote businesses: Various agro and industrial nodes will be linked to the expressway as Nagpur and Mumbai are the key consumer markets. The Krushi Samruddhi Nagar will provide world-class infrastructure, good transport and high-quality accommodation to the investors.
- Green corridor project: Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway is a Green Corridor project meaning 12.68 lakh trees will be planted on the expressway. Out of which, there will be small plants and shrubs too.

Mumbai Nagpur Expressway Route
701 km long, the Mumbai Expressway route stretches across 10 districts and 390 villages. It covers the main districts of Maharashtra like Nagpur, Wardha, Amravati, Washim, Buldhana, Jalna, Aurangabad, Nashik, Ahmednagar and Thane. On the way, there are three wildlife sanctuaries, for which underpasses, overpasses and high culverts are built. Also, the longest tunnel is under construction at Kasara Ghat, Igatpuri. In total the expressway will have 33 major bridges, 274 minor bridges, six tunnels, and 65 flyovers.
Mumbai Nagpur Expressway will also connect these major tourist destinations in Maharashtra.

Proposed Toll Charges at Mumbai Nagpur Expressway
When you drive on this smooth expressway, you will have to pay the toll charges. There will be 26 toll gates. Currently, the MSRDC has invited bids for the toll gates and is waiting for approval from the Maharashtra government to pass the contract to a party. However, the following are the proposed toll charges:-

Conclusion - Mumbai Nagpur Expressway
The Mumbai Nagpur Expressway is a 701 km-6 lane expressway. It passes through Nagpur-Wardha-Amravati-Washim-Buldhana-Jalna-Aurangabad-Nashik-Ahmednagar-Thane. The projects will boost the rural sector's economic growth and provide employment. Also, it is a Green Corridor project, meaning that 12.68 lakh trees will be planted along the expressway.
